³º Tokyo Blade are a bit of a mystery to most º ³
³º people. They never had a huge hit or a platinum º ³
³º record but they also were better than most of º ³
³º the NWOBHM bands around them and despite having º ³
³º a cheese-tastic vocalist managed to release some º ³
³º good records. This CD, counts as one of the good º ³
³º ones! The production is flawless, the musicians º ³
³º wrote some decent songs and the playing it top º ³
³º notch. Sadly, the vocalist still brings them º ³
³º down a little bit which is unfortunate...but he º ³
³º isn't the worst thing to happen to a band º ³
³º either. He just keeps them from delivering the º ³
³º hooks at the level they should have been º ³
³º delivered. Had they a Halford styled º ³
³º singer...this band could have made this record º ³
³º REALLY good. º ³
³º º ³
³º The songwriting on this collection is quite º ³
³º good. Imagine a combination of NWOBHM filtered º ³
³º through "Somewhere in Time" Iron Maiden. It's º ³
³º not AS good as that sounds, but entertaining º ³
³º despite. Cheesy lyrics/vocals do drag the whole º ³
³º affair down a little bit but who cares, the fun º ³
³º is here and unlike a band like the horribly º ³
³º silly Keel you don't feel half as guilty for º ³
³º enjoying it. The production benefits the complex º ³
³º riffs, and as previously mentioned, only the º ³
³º "typical" singing works as a real detriment to º ³
³º the whole affair. º ³
³º º ³
³º Tokyo Blade weren't destined for bigger things º ³
³º career-wise, but they managed to make a small º ³
³º mark with those who mattered and enjoyed the º ³
³º NWOBHM scene. They put in more consitent quality º ³
³º then bands like Tygers of Pan-Whatever and º ³
³º created some decent records along the way. º ³
³º º ³
³º If you love NWOBHM I suggest you pick this up, º ³
³º it's a good cross-section of strong material º ³
³º that marked an era that while lost, still has a º ³
³º sense of fun even though it may be a guilty º ³
³º pleasure now. º ³
