Û Û Once in a long while along comes a heavy metal album that Û Û
Û Û will completely and totally annihilate poor little me. Û Û
Û Û Sure, there's quite a lot I enjoy and I don't mind throwing Û Û
Û Û around higher ratings for some records; I like what I like, Û Û
Û Û but some of them I forget about in due time. Sacrifice's Û Û
Û Û sophomore effort, "Forward To Termination", is one that no Û Û
Û Û matter how many times it fails to come to mind, still Û Û
Û Û returns with a vengeance anyway. This album is goddamn Û Û
Û Û fantastic! It does everything right the debut did wrong and Û Û
Û Û manages to improve upon it 666 fold, thereby making the Û Û
Û Û sloppy "Torment In Fire" seem like little more than a silly Û Û
Û Û afterthought. This, my friends, is how thrash metal should Û Û
Û Û be: loud, clear, brutal, yet melodic, and with more killer Û Û
Û Û riffs then you can toss a Sepultura album at. Û Û
Û Û One of the highlights is the incredible production. Every Û Û
Û Û instrument is given its dues and then some. Everything is Û Û
Û Û so clear, and the whole record just feels HUGE, booming and Û Û
Û Û larger than life, not to mention wholly evil. The guitars Û Û
Û Û feel gargantuan, with so much weight on them you'd think Û Û
Û Û they were gonna crush you into dust while the drums pound Û Û
Û Û out with a pummeling dryness and a tad bit of distortion Û Û
Û Û for effect. The bass is surprisingly clear and has a fuzzy, Û Û
Û Û but intense sound to it. Everyone - Gus Pynn (drums), Scott Û Û
Û Û Watts (bass), and Joe Rico (leads, I think) - perform Û Û
Û Û pretty fucking effortlessly as though this album where Û Û
Û Û surely their last. And of course we have Rob Urbinati Û Û
Û Û giving his all on vocals, sounding like a Canadian Zetro Û Û
Û Û sans the more nasally approach, but still this man's 100%, Û Û
Û Û field-clearing screams and unforgiving mid-range barks make Û Û
Û Û him a force to be reckoned with. Û Û
Û Û From beginning to end, "Forward To Termination" isn't Û Û
Û Û totally perfect, for there's still a few songs that don't Û Û
Û Û click with me. "The Entity", for example, is for all Û Û
Û Û intents and purposes a good song with loads of fierce time Û Û
Û Û changes, nice riffage, yada-yada, but the song never sat Û Û
Û Û well with me. I always found it a tad uninteresting. The Û Û
Û Û short closer, "Pyrokenesis", is always found to be kinda Û Û
Û Û generic as well as likeably furious as it may be. But most Û Û
Û Û everything flat out will fucking KILL you. The brief, Û Û
Û Û furious opening title track slices right outta nowhere Û Û
Û Û before jumping straight into the bloodthirsty speed and Û Û
Û Û aggression of "Terror Strikes" where harsh hooks and licks Û Û
Û Û abound! The mid-pace of "Forever Enslaved", with a few Û Û
Û Û melodic guitar lines, is quite strong as is the screeching Û Û
Û Û fury of "Cyanide" and the lengthy guitar-driven verses of Û Û
Û Û the tense "Light of the End". Then we have a pair of Û Û
Û Û masterpieces. "Re-Animation" is one of the greatest thrash Û Û
Û Û metal songs ever recorded. The verse riff is unforgettable Û Û
Û Û as is the vicious riff in the song's middle break and Û Û
Û Û Urbinati's jaw-dropping, poseur-slaughtering vocal Û Û
Û Û delivery. Hear this song NOW! The epic "Flames of Û Û
Û Û Armageddon" is one of the OTHER greatest thrash songs ever Û Û
Û Û made. The main riff will drill itself into your skull, Û Û
Û Û helpless against its power! The mood changes in this song Û Û
Û Û are incredible, starting as a rushing thrasher before Û Û
Û Û moving into more mid-paced territory, and at last at a Û Û
Û Û short, spooky bass and atmosphere-driven middle part, then Û Û
Û Û back again. Definitely a goddamn masterpiece. Û Û
Û Û Overall, if you even have a passing interest in thrash, Û Û
Û Û there's no reason you shouldn't own or at the very least Û Û
Û Û hear this album. The bandmates give it their all and then Û Û
Û Û some, the production is one of the best I've ever heard, Û Û
Û Û and some of these songs just have to be heard to be Û Û
Û Û appreciated. Forget "Torment In..."...uh, you know what, Û Û
Û Û Sacrifice never did an album before this. Hail "Forward To Û Û
Û Û Termination"! "Spirit world sends back my soul!!!" Û Û
